On Freewallet we apply extreme security measures to keep your funds safe. However, we strongly recommend enabling additional security features on the user side to eliminate any chance of unauthorized access to your wallet and potential losses.
Freewallet offers 3 effective features that will ensure your funds stay safe:
PIN code and/or Touch ID (Fingerprint Login)
The PIN code is a 4-digit code of your choice that you need to enter to access your account after entering the correct password for it. You can also add an option to use Touch ID (or Fingerprint Login on Android) for extra security.
2-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security designed to prevent someone from accessing your account, even if they know your password. With 2FA enabled, you will be able to log into your account using a random 2FA code generated by an authenticator app, for example, Authy. Here’s a full guide on 2FA set-up on our support centre.
Email confirmation for each transaction (Multisig)
Multisig requires your approval of any outgoing transaction before releasing it. This way, even if someone gains access to your account, they won’t be able to move out the funds without you knowing.
You can also request up to 3 emails for your transactions to be confirmed: the funds will be released only after receiving confirmations from all addresses.
All these features can be set up in the Settings section of your app upon verifying the email address on your account. Please remember that we don’t have access to your personal information, such as your emails or social media profiles, or your device: keeping them safe is your responsibility.
