What is the TON Blockchain?

Jettons is the name given to tokens built on the TON blockchain. So, TON Jettons are effectively TON-based tokens reminiscent of ERC20 tokens built on Ethereum.

The TON blockchain was developed in the 2010s under the helm of one of the world’s biggest messengers, Telegram. However, when the SEC ruled that grams, TON’s native token, should be treated as securities, Telegram dropped its plans to work on the TON blockchain, so the dev team went independent.

The TON blockchain is focused on being scalable and easy to use. Thanks to the sharding technology, the TON blockchain is ready for high volumes of transactions per second, which is crucial given that the platform leans on the multi-billion user base of the Telegram messenger.

The functioning of Jettons is possible via the Jetton Master Smart Contract. Everyone can work on creating their own Jettons using the TON ecosystem tools. Through Jettons, TON users may get seamless access to DeFi services without having to migrate their tokens to other blockchains.

How to Use Jettons?

Receive, store, and send Jettons using your FRWT account. To get Jettons, you can send them to your FRWT wallet from an exchange or other platform, choosing the TON blockchain.

Jettons are marked with a TON badge, so if you want to receive, say, USDT built on TON, you should choose USDT with a TON badge (see the picture above). In all other regards, jettons are operated the same way as any other tokens built on different blockchains.
